Will WikiLeaks harm India US relationship?

0

WikiLeaks, a self-proclaimed whistleblower website, is reported to be under cyber attack. The site has collected millions of important data related to the diplomatic relation of US with other countries and many other secret and sensible information that if published would destroy the relation of US with other key countries.

The US meanwhile warned India and other key countries across the world about the unexpected incident and the potential embarrassing release of classified documents which they fear may cause harm the American interest and create tension in the world environment.

Julian Assange, the founder of The WikiLeaks has said there would be "seven times" as many secret documents as the 400,000 Iraq war logs it published last month.

US State Department Spokesman P J Crowley said that they have contacted India and other key countries like Britain, Russia, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia and informed them about this unexpected embarrassing incident.

WikiLeaks today claimed it was under a cyber attack and expressed its concern that the documents would be made public through several leading newspapers though American administration asked the website to refrain from making the classified documents public. It has also asked WikiLeaks to return the "illegally obtained" papers, insisting that their leak would "endanger the lives of countless individuals."

Julian Assange put the number of documents to be released at more than a quarter of a million which US alleged has violated the US Law.

Before this, the WikiLeaks had published thousands of important documents on the US lead wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Last October it released thousands of secret US files which contained detailed abuse of Iraqi prisoners in US custody, rights violations and civilian deaths.

India however said that India Government is not concern about the WikiLeaks but is interested to know about this. In response to a question Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna said that their Government is not really concern about the Leakage but interested to leant about what were there in the website and the information the site has collected so far.
