Another Google in India

0

Google has found another Google existing before the new Google comes in the cyber world.

Yes, its true, there is another google in Karnataka but this is not any Search Engine, but a small village about 510 km north east of Bangalore. The Village is very small and doest not have internet connection there

The village of 1000 residents on the banks of the Krishna in Karnataka’s Raichur district is far removed from the search engine company base in Mountain View, California. How you spell the name is left to you as there are no English Boards anywhere. All the boards including those of the government offices are in Kannada and on all of them the name sounds exactly the way Google is pronounced. When the government tries to put up Englsih Boards, activists stopped them. “We asked officials what the purpose of putting up English Boards. Would anyone from the Cambridge University come here to read the board?”

Most inhabitants have not heard of their famous namesake in cyber space. The few who have are proud of their village’s claim of fame.

There is a story on how the village got its name. This is a mythological story known from the legend that 12th century saint poet Allama Prabhu lived in this village when he was traveling from Basave Kalyan to Sreesailam in Andhra Pradesh. The cave where he is believed lived has been described s Gavi Gallu(Cave of Stone)The village hence Gavi Gallu.Over the years it became googallu and now its Google…
